Open rear, De Dion ca. 1987. The "trombone" exhaust was designed as a long primary system for more power, to keep the muffler far from the rotary's hot breath and to try for a decent noise level. One out of three would have been nice. Jim & Judy 1989 - simpler exhaust plumbing: straight pipe, silencer, diffuser discs, no wing, still no rear bodywork...

.120 wall 2" square tubing welded across to the VW hub carriers with a five link attached made a light, tidy DeDion. One year I narrowed the rear track by a foot and unfortunately cannot find the picture. It looks ludicrous.
