Tom Styczynski's 1964 Lotus Seven A
SB1722
Wilsonvile, OR

I am the 6th owner of SB-1722 as of October 2012. The car came with good ownership data but there are a lot of gaps that will require more investigation. Documentation names Span Motors in Highland Park, Illinois as the importer of SB-1722 in 1963 but the title issued to the first owner shows the year as 1964. Since it has been designated as a 1964 for so long I guess I must continue the tradition.

In the pit at a Blackhawk Farms Raceway Mid-Western Council event in the 70's.

The 3rd owner kept the car from 1971 to 2005 racing it in the Chicago area Mid-Western Council of Sports Car Clubs events. The log books note races from 1971 to 1974 and 1990 to 1994. The 5th owner continued the racing heritage with five more events then was side lined due to a broken piston ring issue.

In my first attack on the boxes of engine bits and spares I found the original front drum brake assemblies and a set of SU carbs with a sticker from the Huffaker Competition Department. The plan is to rebuild the BMC A-Series 948 motor and continue vintage racing on the West Coast. I will provide updates as the task ahead unfolds.

Me (tan cap/red-ish shirt) and the transport driver pushing the car in the into the Oregon garage. Note the pile of boxes in the cockpit and the stock windscreen should ease the process of registration for the street.
